So this is a story about my experience so far with Rogers and Apple trying to get a iPhone 4. I have tried everyday now and well lets just say I’m starting to get tired but maybe my luck will change soon before I die a little inside.
Why do I need a iPhone 4 right away? Well I really don’t though I do want a iPhone it’s what I enjoy and it’s something I want to learn to program with.
Now you wonder what I have right now? Well that is an iPhone 3G and I’m having so many issues with it. For a long time my screen has been acting up when you type the sensor seams to be off a bit. Also their is so much dust under the screen. Overall it was a good little phone but it’s becoming really really slow and a pain to use.
Rogers is right now out of Stock and Apple stores bring in Stock 1-2 times a day. Now the Apple store is not 100% stable so sometimes might be 2 days without stock but for the most part they always have stock for a brief time to satisfy the first 30-50 people in line everyday.
Now Rogers stock issues are not really rogers fault. Apple is clearly limiting how much their sending out to the provider since Bell, Telus and such also have some stock issues but not as many since they have less customers that use the iPhone.
My personal experience with the iPhone 4 is really bad I think I just been cursed the day I set my goal to getting a iPhone 4 since 2 years ago when I got the iPhone 3G I was the very first person in line.
July 30th 2010 I was one the first 15 or so people in line. A Rogers employee came out and pretty much said they had 20ish in stock and only 1 per person even though they said 2 but with limited stock it would be just fair. After a big system crash and some little minor issues morning turned into afternoon and afternoon turned into disappointment… Apparently the stock went from about 20ish iPhones 4′s to about 15ish…
So for a full week the only stock I been able to hear about was from apple stores and I called dozen stores everyday for the past week and sometimes 2-3 dozen if I hear that their might have been some out or coming out soon. With no luck of course of a iPhone in sight.
Aug 7th 2010 Rogers stated on RedBoard that their be iPhone’s coming out Monday Aug 9th but they crossed it out and changed it to Aug 7th!!! They said their getting limited amount of stock but heck a bit of stock is better then no stock right???
So I took the day off just like July the 30th 2010. I went from Barrie to the GTA and several small and big cities in between and got no iPhone. In fact I asked every place do you get shipments in on Saturdays and I was told never and then I was like wth.. So I started asking around online monitoring some of the biggest forums and twitter and not one person so stock… So another day with no phone and my time wasted…
Aug 9th 2010. Now that Redboard said sorry their was communication errors and such that they should start getting stock in Monday and more through the week and well at this point lots of calls and more lies. No one had stock in yesterday and I mean no one I called everyone around me and then did the forums/ twitter thing and no one could find stock only lies and upset stores…
My experience is just getting worse now my journey is starting to come to a end and not because I’m getting near my goal but because I’m sick and tired of being hung up and told not to call for several weeks and it’s just sad… Kind of funny though when you call the store standing right outside and you see them talk to their friends or another employee and they pickup the phone and hang it up or better yet just turn mute on LOL…
In my experience Rogers really does not enjoy and like me as a customer anymore. I worked hard to get a phone and I been trampled on like trash. I can’t even put a price on such a thing I mean 2 days of work gone. Tons of gas from GTA to Barrie and back since I went from small to large towns/ cities. The time I spent calling everyday.
The best part is RedBoard even said the following:
we strongly recommend that you call ahead to ensure that iPhones are in stock.
When I told the stores about that and the release dates on stock…… Let’s just say they told me not to listen to the fabrications from their own Rogers website and staff..
I also want to share with you I’m 25 years old and I work in a grocery store for a living. I know so much about technology and customer service and yet I’m the one working in the grocery store when I could do so much working say for Rogers not that this is a Job request but I’m just saying I would be so happy to work with such a company and here these people take it so rudely like it’s just a crappy job… It’s funny they get to work in a field I would love to work in
Thanks for taking the time to read my Quest for the iPhone 4!
